  4. a reflection.

i have been thinking about Jamaica a lot lately.

i have no idea what the trigger was that unleashed this flood of memories from my time there.

i miss it so very much.

i miss the food, the music, the culture.

    i miss the carefree atmosphere.

i miss the farm, the stream, the pavilion, the sugar cane.

i miss the school children from kingston, as they’d come home from school and play soccer in the street with an empty pop bottle.

i miss the teenage boys from the farm in st. elizabeth, who we’d chat with for hours on end about music.

    i miss the smiles.

i wonder if any of these people remember me, or think of me.

i wish i had gotten their contact information. i’m so ashamed of myself for not doing so. i want to know how they are.

so many hopes and wishes still remain as a result of this trip.

[lesson learned: always get contact information for those who touch your life.]

  7. jamaica. [just some randoms.]

    working on the house.

    at the bob marley museum.

sunrise in st. elizabeth from my balcony.

    st. elizabeth in the day.

at port royale—the wickedest city in the world (because of pirates).

    drinking some FRESH coconut water.

jumping off the high dive at the convent pool.

at pelican bar—a bar (aka a wooden shack on wooden stilts) a mile off the coast, legit in the middle of the ocean.

fresh fruit at a roadside vendor. yum.

laughing hysterically trying to play hand games with my teammate candice while in kingston at the build site.

some of the team at YS Falls, about to jump off the little cliff into another part of the waterfall.

    a jamaican mantra. <3

  8. week one in kingston, jamaica. [working on a basic, one-room 12x12 house.]

my boy antoine and i. he was the first local i talked to. i’ll never forget him.

alex and i. the second one i talked to, and another who i will never forget.

    coco, alex and i.

joe, myself and a bunch of kids. (coco with the camera.)

hands down my favorite pic from the trip: antoine, myself and alex. :)

    lunch with alex and elvis.

lunch with maddy, alex, roman, romaine, and another (he came late).

alex and i. we had a secret handshake. :)

roman, dexter, myself, and romaine (he nicknamed me).

    elvis and i.

    the whole bunch.
