people throw the word “HATE” around too much, like it means nothing.

perhaps the word has become desensitized and lost its [true] meaning over the years.

irregardless, i don’t like it.

Global Hunger Trends

  • FAO (Food and Agricultural Organization of the UN) estimates that the total number of undernourished people worldwide is expected to decline to 925 million compares with 1.023 billion in 2009. 
  • This decline is largely attributable to a more favourable economic environment in 2010- particularly in developing countries - and the fall in bother international and domestic food prices since 2008. 
  • Almost all of the world’s undernourished live in developing countries. In Asia and the Pacific, an estimated 578 million people are suffering from chronic hugner; in Sub-Saharan Africa 239 million; in Latin America and the Caribbean 53 million; in the Near East and North Africa 37 million; and in developed countries 19 million in total.
  • One in seven people (adults and children) goes to bed hungry each night.
  • In developing countries, the proportion of undernourished in total population has been cute from 37% in 1969-1971 to 16% in 2010. 
  • Globally, underweight prevalence in children under the age of five declined to 26% in 2008, from 31% in 1990.



Human Cost

  • Hunger (underweight) is No. 1 on the list of the world’s top 10 health risks.
  • Hunger kills more people every year than AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis combined. 
  • According to UNICEF, 1/3 of all deaths in children under the age of five in developing countries are link to undernutrition. 
  • The first 1,000 days of life is the critical window in which to tackle undernutrition.
