confusion and inadequacy.
currently suffering from the both of these. confusion: not sure what i’m going with my life after JVC this year. i though i had my mind made up, but then i finally got an email response from a volunteer program in Rwanda. very, very promising and appealing. inadequacy: the most simplest things i do are always being corrected.  hmmph.

just what i needed.
facebook’d my adriennemae. she commented. i commented. i flip tabs to go to tumblr, and have two notifications: she reblogged a screen-cap of our convo a few days ago that i posted. she messaged me. just made my month, warmed my heart, and brought a genuine smile to my face. wondering what a best friend was supposed to be like? look to her. oh how i miss her.

a reflection.
i have been thinking about Jamaica a lot lately. i have no idea what the trigger was that unleashed this flood of memories from my time there. i miss it so very much. i miss the food, the music, the culture. i miss the carefree atmosphere. i miss the farm, the stream, the pavilion, the sugar cane. i miss the school children from kingston, as they’d come home from school and play...

the love makes me speechless.
went to Freedom House to celebrate January birthdays at 1:30pm it was supposed to be from 2:00-3:00pm. didn’t start until almost 4:00pm—typical. stayed until 6:45pm. spent about three hours dancing and singing to classic American rock songs (e.g. “Born In The USA”, “Stairway to Heaven”, “Hey Jude”, some Jimi Hendrix, etc.), followed by our House...

nostalgia.
whenever i hear or listen to Bob Marley, i am so vividly brought back to my time in Jamaica. i miss it so much. the beauty. the culture. the atmosphere. the people. all of it.

every ending is a new beginning.
just finished reading “Notes from My Travels: Visits with Refugees in Africa, Cambodia, Pakistan and Ecuador” by Angelina Jolie. working at Freedom House, i felt a rather strong connection to Jolie’s emotions and feelings felt towards/regarding her time with refugees.   alas, i now feel compelled to do something. something big for Freedom House. so i sent a few emails this...
